Painting polished stainless exhaust
I'm looking to paint the axle back portion of my exhaust system. Its polished stainless steel. The manufacturer who produced it is Legal Speed Designs and the vehicle is a 2007 Civic Si Sedan, just to throw that out there.
I'd like to do this the right way so any information on prep and materials would be greatly appreciated. I have done this in the past (late 90's) just by cleaning the surface and spraying with engine enamel, needless to say it flaked off.
I searched recent and archives one exhaust and stainless and nothing came up.
Going to go with a satin or matte black finish.

let me take a wild guess, the old paint job you did a while ago you didn't sand anything down?
it's not different from painting anything, the paint needs a mechancial stick/grip to the surface for it to sick. for the exhaust i would sand it down and paint it with high temp enemal based paint
