Default Exhaust Painted-Can paint be removed?

I'm not exactly sure where to post this, so I'll post it in the area related to my car. I'm purchasing an axle back muffler, but the person painted it flat black. I was just wondering if the paint can be removed so that it is just the original shiny color that it was manufactured in, without messing up the polish of it- or am I stuck with that color?

im not sure, try drownin it in paint thinner? or sand it but that would mess up your finish, not quiet sure im not a paint expert.

i dont think paint thinner will ruin our finish, its just polished stainless steel really,

and you can sand it off, but will then have to re-finish the muffler t a polished look or whatever you desire

Aircraft remover. I'm not sure of its effects on stainless steel.
Any method you choose, you'll have to re-finish/polish the exhaust again.

it's sold at autoparts stores, I believe its called aircraft stripper/removed, all I can say is don't get it on your hands, it burns. will take the paint off just about anything it's strong, I used it to remove the powder coat form my valve cover, it just kinda melts off then you hose it off after about 15 minutes

x2 on the aircraft cleaner. Ive used it MANY times and it works well. It wont ruin the metal, it may leave spots but you can clean those up later on.
