Si LSD in the snow
Hey guys im just wondering since winter is upon us and i will be heading up to the mountains a lot more often this season. just how well does the si handle in snow and ice!! By no means do i think the lsd is sufficiant enough alone without chains but does it help at all ? let me know what your experiences have been good and bad.
LSD helps a bit but its not really the acceleration that is a concern as much as the stopping and turning
Get a good set of snow tires
oh and a shovel incase u drive into a snow drift like i did and have to shovel the snow from under the car.

Yeah thats what im trying to figure out! my last civic was a 01 and worked great with chains !! quick to put on and really handled well in the snow!! but im wondering if the si has a liitle too much power!!

If you are running the crap no season stock tires on your car in the snow, you'll be in for a fun ride thats for sure.
Get a good set of snow tires and you'll be fine. Chains are not required!

As long as the thread on the tires are good then you should be fine. I just rotated mine and it handled way better than now since in this new rotation they're a bit more worned out. Also, don't accelerate to quickly.
i dont know about you guys but if my car gets into some ice, i takes alot to get it out. My driveway is slightly down hill and when it snows its a pain in the ***. I just got my steelies, now its time to get some snow tires.
I drove my 06 in the snow and while it was challenging, as long as you are careful and know your limits you would be ok... I had summer tires on it though... sucked. Would definately recommend some great winter tires... i hear good things about blizzaks(sp?)
I recently took my FA5 on a cross country trip from Arkansas to California all during the last major snow/ice storm we had on a set of Kumho ASX all seasons. The SI does pretty good in snow/ice, and with a set of snow tires you should pretty much set. In case you were wondering about the LSD actually helping, I did a little test with the VSA turned off and found it pretty much acted like an open differential on acceleration. Cornering however :-)
