It's a simple mileage-based indicator meant to remind you to take the car in for scheduled maintenance. If your maintenance is up to date, you can simply reset the indicator by using your key to press the black button in the cluster.

From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
It will scare you every 7500 miles. Sometimes, it will jump out at you from behind a wall and go "MAINTAIN ME, BITCH!!".
Jk jk. Seriously, though, it does come on every 7500 miles. That's the "normal service interval". Under normal conditions, your oil gets changed every 7500 miles..and the dealer robs you of your $$ to prod around underneath your car.
Just do the oil changes at usual 5k or so intervals..and ignore the stupid light. Unless some maintainence is due. Hondas are relatively maintainence free. Fix what needs to be fixed when it needs to be fixed. Change the oil regularly, and do the T-belt and water pump at the manual's regular intervals.
the air filter, tire press, and fluid levels etc. should be checked every so often. As well as brakes. You can do this using your eyes and perhaps some prescription glasses or contacts if nessacary. Maybe some shades if it's sunny out....or if you, like me, have a future so bright, you need to wear shades.
Spark plug intervals depend on the engine and what not. Buy a manual. Go to a junkyard and take a manual. Get one on ebay. It's cheap...and has some good info. You can also do a haynes manual.
