Default importing from Canada... US model questions

ok so in my search for another decent CRX...

since mine was so graciously totaled by idiots with no license driving their mommies cars sloshed...

i found the car i want...
but its in Canada...
whats the easiest, LEAST illegal way
for me to get this car into the states
it is a US model
the guy bought it a couple of years ago
i'm a GA state resident.
and have no emission or inspection laws on any cars i own.
so registering it wont be a problem.
but i'm been getting a lot of wishy washy feedback on getting it into the states.
so i was wondering if anyone else had any idea.

thanks
Rae

if you know anything about crx's, you know finding a clean SI one thats not rusted out, wrecked, has some shitty seats modded into it,has some crazy stupid conversion bodykit, taillights. ect isn't that easy...
i don't need any RHD ****. thats just more legal headache then i can stomach currently.

plus why pay 3g's for a rusty one
when i can pay 1g and like 2 hund in gas to go get it.
and its already had all the bodywork done... its worth it to me to figure out how to get it here.

My hatchback is a Canadian rust bucket originally from Toronto, Canada now residing in California (strictest state on emission laws). Just make sure you have all of the paperwork/the title to the car before you drive it over here or have it shipped down. After that, just go to the local DMV and get it registered. Simple as that.

I imported a car from the US myself. I simply had to call the border and they informed me of everything I needed to do to legally import my car and make it 'Canadian'.

After I had my info from the border, I visit the local Ministry of Transportation (DMV for you) and asked what I need to get a plates for the car. I got alot of important info there.

Turns out for us (Canadians), if the car is 15 years or older (mine was 16) you bypass MANY mandatory inspections and expensive paperwork. I simply had to get the Ontario Safety Inspection and an Emissions test (both are mandatory for Ontario registration, not Canadian Importation).

Do your research. One thing I had was a 3 day waiting period for the border to do there paperwork for importation.

I hope my experience might help you out.

I live in Canada, let me tell you a lot of the condition of the cars in general will depend on location. Cars out from the East are not desired, they are know for accerated rust, and nobody in the West wants them. Places like Vancouver BC are a great place to start and have a selection better than most with cars in very good shape.

Also, because we now bring in so many imported cars (from Japan), we have a wealth of premium cars here, especailly in Alberta. I have a 1992 Celica GTR with 89 kilometers ( close to half that in miles), the car looks new like it rolled off the assembly line.
