Default Any difference in these two bottom ends?

I have a 99 Civic Si, and I'm looking into getting a spare b16 short block to build up. Now is there any difference between the b16a2 bottom end and the first generation b16 bottom end? My plan is to send it to golden eagle to be bored out and sleeved. I'm thinking that the bottom end of both blocks should be identicle, am I wrong in thinking this?

Only thing different I can think of is B16A2 has slightly higher compression pistons.

but that won't matter since i will be building the block with lower compression pistons. so the actual blocks are the same, every little bit of them, except pistons correct?

All US b16a's have the same compression ratio = 10.2 and run the same PR3 pistons. If you pick up a JDM 92+ B16A, then you'll have the 10.4 compression ratio piston aka P30 piston. The older JDM 89-91 b16's run the PR3 pistons, same ones found in all of the US b16's (delsol, 99+Si, etc).

Other than the pistons; the blocks are identical. ---BUT! ---
One thing you need to remember is that the pre-92 b16a (US or JDM) blocks will NOT have the OBD2 crank/CKP sensor that's built onto the oil pump! don't forget abou that! Unless you're running a jumper to an OBD1 ecu, then you wont' have anything to worry about.....but if you're not then take what I just mentioned into consideration...

So if I'm NOT running a jumper (meaning all my ecu stuff is stock obd2 ****) then I'll be fine? Or I need the jumper to make the first gen block w/ obd1 crank sensor mobober work? I'm little unclear on that part. Thanks

same as some j-spec motors dont bring the sensor for the oil pump

No, you WON'T be fine if you keep your OBD2 schitt. You will get a check engine light and your car might run like garbage if you stick with the OBD2 ecu and run a pre92 b16a block. I mean all you have to do is buy a spare 96+ US B-series oilpump with CKP and slap it on a pre92 block and you should be fine. Otherwise if you went OBD1 ecu, you won't have to worry about that damn CKP sensor at all....or you can try to run a JDM OBD2 ecu and it won't look for that CKP sensor either, but JDM ITR ecu's kinda suck. The fuel mapping and ignition is wacky on most JDM ecu's.

So I can just switch over that sensor from my current block along with all the other **** I'm going to swap from my current engine?

yes..well you need to swap the whole oil pump since the sensor is integrated into the pump itself.

YEah, give us info on it. I will buy it if it sounds good, but if I don't buy it and hxman does, good luck to him.
