96 Civic B16 t3/t4 engine is choking
I need some technical advice. I don't know where else to look. After starting my car it seems to choke and idle for awhile then dies. When I do get the car going, it needs gas *light tap on the pedal* or it stalls out, especially at stop signs.
Recent things I have done are changed spark plugs to iradium (sp?) plugs.
Where else should I be looking next?

No it happened before I changed the plugs. I thought it was not getting a good spark so I changed it hoping it would fix it.
It idles around 1 - 1.2k then you can hear it drop below 1 and then you can hear it choking and almost stall.
I wish the Heimlich would bring it back to life. would be alot cheaper.

sad to say no. Slowly getting it together.

Could that be a problem? I was running fine for 1-2 weeks after boosting it...

Any time you introduce any kind of forced induction to a normally aspirated engine, whether it be a turbo, sc or nitrous, the car will not perform at it’s optimum without an engine management. Since you have a B16 engine in your 98 civic, you can retain the p28 ecu and chip it. Hondata, Neptune, Uberdata, or even an emanage from greddy would be a lot better than attempting to run it as it sits now. Larger injectors would also be required to accommodate for the extra air and most importantly, tuning! You may have chosen to skimp out on all this due to money issues, but an fmu with a missing link or check valves will not be sufficient. B16 are great motors to boost, but not without management, they’re simply not INTENDED for that. By now you may have blown a ring, or worst. Do a compression and a leak down test to check the health status of your engine. Also check your ecu for any cel’s, and finally, well…just read the damn post again. Good luck!
Your post sums it all I guess, I have the basic turbo + fmu + missing link. No engine management, no chipped ecu.

oh one last reply for me, using one of those compression/ringseal crap would foul out my engine? someone recommended me to use it, and thats where I believe started this whole mess. My car was running fine til the day I used this... any inputs?
You have to follow the directions provided by the manual step by step. Specifically states to disconnect the dizzy and the PGM-FI and block the throttle wide open. Otherwise fuel will drain right into the cylinders and of course, there will be no spark to burn it. Make sure you also crank over the motor at least 7 times and be sure to monitor the gauge at each stroke to determine the progress of the needle.
