shiny welds.... how?
i've been welding TIG for some time now... and i have been noticing the nice and shiny welds on the headers from different ppl....
i get those sometimes... mostly on the corner welds... but most of the time mine turn out a flat grey-ish color...
i dont remember doing anything different between the two...
so can any1 tell me what i'm doing wrong? or how i can get the nice shiny welds?
thnx

No, not from a wire wheel man...sorry. If your welds are flat grey, then it's likely you have a heat control issue or poor gas coverage. The reason they are shiny in the joints is because there is more material to absorb heat and the argon is able to "pool" in there as well.
Do this... get a bigger cup(10) and turn your post purge up to 5 seconds. Make 5 dabs and stop welding...let the argon shield the weld.
Close all your doors and seal up all drafts. I bet 90% of your issue is shielding gas. I can get shiny welds with shitty prep.
