so i have a 1990 crx dx and i was driving down the highway doing 100 km/h and all of a sudden the car just shut off and wouldnt fire back up any ideas it still turns over it has a full tank of gas new spark plugs the fuses are all good unless there is another panel of them i dont know about so i need to know where the fuel pump is located and where the relay for it is any help would be wicked thanks guys

 

When you try to start does it make a clicking sound? Either your battery is dead or your alternator is dead which caused your battery to die.

 

no it still turns over and everything just not firing up

 

sounds like a fuel relay... when you turn the key to accessories how many clicks do you hear?... (by your feet) there should be two... one starting the fuel pump & then one turning it off or whatever it does.... if u dont hear these clicks its your relay.... other then that... make sure your gas take is full... just cuz the needle says full doesn't mean it is... (officer i wasn't going 120 i swear)

 

Dyou hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the ignition switch on? The fuel pump is in the gas tank and you should be able to hear it by leaning into the back seat. If you have someone with you they can turn the switch on while you listen through the gas filler opening. The main relay is behind the left kick panel and is hard to get to , maybe someone can show you it's location.

my ef civic did the same thing it was my timing belt and the seals. if it is leaking oil your seals are going bad and u might need a new disrtibuter but yeah change your main relay first good luck

 

My ignition switch failed and caused similar issues. . my car would just loose power while driving. i would stop, try to start it, it would sound like it wanted to start, but not stay on. I would leave it sit for a while and eventually it would start and run again, only to do the same thing once again. I eventually pulled the switch out and tested the different states according to the manual, and the on position was faulty. I replaced the switch and not a problem since.

 

check your dizzy cap and rotter. sometimes the little rotter comes loose and it will turn the car off and the spark will be all off...
and check your fuel pump you can sit inside your car and turn the car on (dont try and start it) and you can hear if you fuel pump come on.
it will make a little buzzing noise at the rear of the car...
