Hi All,

I had created an earlier thread to find out whether my o2 sensor was on its way out:

Had a CEL #41, but now it hasn't happened for a while. I was driving again today and it seemed fine and the car started to bog pretty bad only between 2-3K (after roughly 35-40mins driving), then all of a sudden I get a CEL and the bogging basically disappears.

When I switch the car off and then on again CEL disappears so I cant find out what CEL it's throwing, I can only go on what it threw before which was #41 (makes sense to be the same as i had only disconnected the o2).

u can do a CEL while the car is running/idel. u dont have to turn off the car. my guess is your knock sensor
what engine, ecu and car ?

 

It's a JDM EG6: b16a, obd1, p30. I doubt it's the knock sensor - no CEL for it previously. I''ve just gotten the #41 and it all seems to be pointing to the o2 sensor.

41 is easy to deal with. just simply replace a new o2 sensor.that happened to me too
yeah most likely knock sensor and maybe plus traction control CEL if your ecu is jdm p30. i had been there. i have the exact same thing
and to be 100% sure. wait for CEL to come on and let the car idel while check the codes. p30 ecu makes b16a engien run like **** , and i know it is oem and right ecu for b16a engine, i bought a chipped p28 ecu and tuned by a pro and my jdm b16a sir2 has been running very very smotth since then

 

i dont have the TCS, but i've also never had a knock sensor CEL or issue. The only thing I did was run without the o2 connected, once plugged in then i've been getting the CEL on it. I've experienced the bogging like this previously but no CEL.

So do i just hook the paper clip up whilst the cars running and CEL on?

yesh...hook up the paper clip and let the car idel and check the CEL and let us knows what are the codes.

 

ok cool - so it's safeto check cel whilst cars on? never heard that before
