Car always starts on second turn, why?
Recently bought a 95 coupe with an '00 LS swap and it needs a lot of work done to it before it can run legitimately. Problem is, I'm a noob at all this and have a bunch of questions. Right now, main question is, when starting the car, the engine turns really slowly, then catches. But if I don't rev the engine, it'll die. Next try it turns slowly again, but when it catches it actually stays alive. I know my battery is almost at the end of it's life, but if the engine starts, it shouldn't die because of the battery because of the alternator, right? Well my question is, how come it turns unusually slow before starting, and how come it always dies after the first start? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
I too went to the Blairsville campus...do you live around the area? I'm from the Murrysville/Monroeville area so i just commuted there.
I went for Automotive Technology/High performance engines and Chassis Fabrication. I graduated December 22nd 2006.
Before you completely set your sights on going to school to work on cars, or working on cars for a living in general...make sure you REALLY want to do it...i thought i wanted to and now i hate my job, don't get me wrong i am damn good at it and i make $40,000 a year only being 21...but it sucks *** cuz i'm $23,300 in the hole for something i hate doing now. I just wanna work on my own car not everyone else's.
Oh and be prepared for all the v8 **** talkers....including the instructors.....There was alot of talking until i walked the dog on an 01 z28 6 speed camaro....i'm talking nasty like, a bus length....in front of half the class....in a 4 door civic family sedan....
But anyways as for the OP...replace the battery and terminals and let us know what the car is doing when you start it up then.
