CAN you guys tell me if I screwed UP??
I am a beginner at car audio and I have been grounding my amp straight to the negative terminal of my car battery. The amp works just fine and there is no engine noise. SO it there any reason for me to ground it differently ?
Well you can go by the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" What you have done is technically correct. Is this amp for a sub only or is it a multi channel amp? The idea being that you cannot usaually hear engine noise through a sub. But for now you are doing fine and I would leave it. It is not going to hurt anything.
Usally when you ground something it is best practice to ground it with the least amount of wire, so obviously the closest spot.
Like I said, if it is working..... leave it. Now if you decide to install a multi channel amp and more speakers, you might run into a problem. Until then, have fun,

the best thing to do is to scrape a little bit of paint as close to the amp as possible (on the floor is the best) and ground the amp with a self tapping screw and a star washer. then go up to the battery and add an extra gruond the same gauge wire as your amp. follow the same step as before.
