Default bumper support

ive heard that some people take off there bumper support because of weight. But what i wanted to know is that how does the bumper hold on on a crx when you remove the support. NOT that im going to try it because i think its dangerous driving around like that. But i always wanted to know how is it that they make the bumper still hold on, because doesnt the bumper need the support to hold on with those 4 screws i think that are on the top.

Well the bumper support is the metal bar that runs along the stock bumper. Alot of body kits require this to be removed so not everyone uses it. It still has the side plastic mounts that hold the bumper up on each side

i think the hf crx bumper support has the metal that attaches to the bumper and its lighter than all the ef bumper supports. its just basically a metal that holds the bumper up thats all...but if you get into an accident it will do a lot of damage.

Yeah the HF is the lightest of them all. Thats always the piece to get crushed in an accident

don't think the bumper will stay on if you just bolt it on the sides it will eventually fall off cause of the weight. you need something to support the bumper...either leave your stock bumper support, put an HF bumper support, or make your own if you want a lighter bumper support. here is a link of how the HF bumper support looks like compared to the regular beefy/heavy support.

I just replaced my DX support for the HF front bumper support this afternoon. The HF supports are about 15 Lbs lighter than the DX/Si ones. Bought mine from majestic honda for under 70$

DX support in middle and at bottom is the HF support

HF support mounted

is it possible to use this hf support on the hatchbacks or sedans? i'm thinking of hacking mine up not to make it lighter, but to fit a huge innercooler. But i will also go back and reinforce the support as well with mild steel.

The HF does has the same mounting points as all the other supports. I think I have a extra HF laying around. They weight nothing compared to the SI and DX. But I dont remember mine having the bar that runs across the bottom like the one pictured above. Might be a year difference. I have 88-89 supports...I bet thats 90-91.

I think the JDM cars had something similar but not the exact same thing. PasswordJDM has a picture of theirs and looks like there's a bracket on the inside.

I'd honestly prefer something like the one with the bar since it's a street car; never know when you'll hit something in the road.

will not fit, i put a CRX front end on a hatchback. the bumpers are way different. You can hack up the stock piece, I've done that.

Amazingly the JDM support is still slightly less substantial I'll get a pic of mine.

I was told that you need to get the correct year support for your vehicle and apparently there is a difference.

This is a 90-91 HF support.

I am told that the HF rear bumper supports are lighter as well. I would guess about 10-15lbs lighter.

All I know is, getting the support separated from the bumper is a bitch. I stripped every single one of those stupid plastic screws

Just wondering as anyone weighed the 90-91 CRX one? My HF support weighed ~12lb with 88 CRX DX cover and filler on it; while my stock 88 Std HB weighed ~27lbs.
