Default It's 2008... I think it's time to unveil my K20a CRX build

Please refer back to my original build thread here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1827471

This build is for me, nobody else. I am putting the car together to my liking. When finished, I plan to have a professional shoot the car. After that... It's getting a beat down!

Drag Racing - It's in my roots.
Road Racing - I've been wanting to try this for a while now, but never having the guts to do it.

It's also going to have some pretty parts for that 'bling' factor.

It is NOT a full blown race car.
It is NOT a show car.
It is MY CAR!

It all started about a year ago when I flew EF8kid out to CA to do my wiretuck and some engine bay cleanup. This was BEFORE his awesome website: http://www.chasebaysonline.com
I was originally rocking a supercharged D16a6 and I was building up a supercharged B18c1. While Chase was here, a few of the KR-X guys dropped by and convinced me to build a KR-X of my own.

The Historic Weekend:

Before Tuck:

Fuel setup:

Chase making my B series tuck harness:

During Tuck:

Mock up of the B18c1:

After Tuck:

The start of my K-series parts:

I went to Hmotors in Burbank, CA to pick up the K20a:

Getting Started:

ETD/ K-tuned traction bar:

siR style CF hood:

Motor sitting on the garage floor:

I bought a DC header and later sold it so I could buy a DTR/SSR piece:

Chase talked me into a "Tuck Harness". Here is the original K20 engine harness:

Got rid of a few of the stock K-series parts to make some money back:

Instead, I spent more money sending the silver valve cover to Steve at http://www.Racecoated.com for a gloss black powdercoating and purchased some carbon fiber 'bling':

Installing the ETD traction bar:

Bought some Hasport motor mounts too:

I wanted a new cluster. An EDM CRX cluster is in MPH with the proper redline for my setup:

Hacked off the old passenger side mount, ground it down to bare metal, and mocked up the Hasport bracket:

Ryan (Rywire) and Chase (EF8kid) came down to motivate me:

Chase brought down my new Tuck Harness and Ryan brought me a CRX/K-series conversion harness:

I got my shift ****. A 6-speed S2000 **** and traded some parts to K20EF8 for the shifter box and cables:

My old Neuspeed bar didn't clear the K20, but the PWJDM bar does. Either way, it needed to be stripped and will soon be powdercoated mirror black to match my valve cover:

While bored, I found an awesome place to relocate my Aeromotive FPR:

I found a great deal on a set of ITB's, so I bought them.

Before:

After:

Mocked up some more of the fuel setup:

Damn things stick out of the hood:

Bought a CF hood scoop:

Fiberimages hood for USDM front.

It fits fine with no cutting.

But it doesn't with ITBs.

I bought the same scoop, and it's almost finished.

I did a lot of measuring to figure out my cooling setup. After all of that, I got a Full-Race radiator:

I was concerned about radiator hoses, so I thought about having some pipes fabbed up instead. I purchased some couplers from Greg @ GO-AUTOWORKS.com:

I measured some more and after some debating, I figured I would try some Samco radiator hoses made for an RSX type S instead:

Autoworks was understanding and let me send the couplers and T-bolt clamps back to him. I promised to rock one of his decals in return for the favor:

ETD radiator brackets made the setup easy on me:

I needed EF8kid to modify my harness to work with the ITB's:

While he was here, we decided to do a brakeline tuck too. This was a good time for the motor to come back out:

While he was doing the brakelines, I thought about modifying some carbon fiber to use as firewall plugs:

Chase doing his thing on the brakelines:

DAAAAAAAAMN!!!!

The motor is in the garage again:

No worries... It's Chasebay's to the Fullest:

Another shot of the motor with the old header:

I spot-drilled out the old brackets that I will not be using and ground them smooth:

I found another user of ITB's with the same scoop. I'll work on mine a little longer to get them just right:

Contacted Karcepts.com for a shifter plate and a PS/AC eliminator kit:

Installation of the Karcepts shifter plate:

I followed some instructions that Karcepts emailed me to modify/cut the kit for an EF chassis:

One more day of fine tuning this Karcepts kit, and it'll be done. I have a headache from being under the car for a few hours:

Another picture of the motor for ***** and giggles:

I will finish up the Karcepts kit LATER...

Motor is back out and I'm prepping the engine bay for paint.

It's a RoadRaceGear lip and splitter. As soon as I can get some free time, I will have a few sets dupicated using carbon fiber.

Sorry im still stuck in the stone ages with my b-series.

The hood closed with the stock intake manifold. I needed to add the scoop for the ITB's. I'm still thinking of getting another hood and having the body shop replicate the siR hump about 2" inches taller.

Initially, YES!!!!

The supercharged setup was going to be a fully built motor. sleeves, crank, the works..

The K20a is going to be pretty tame. ITB's, Header, Cams, Exhaust, tuned on AEM EMS.

300WHP supercharged setup VS. 240WHP N/A setup.

the K motor will be more reliable than the build I had planned for the B18c1.

Actually, the first time Chase came out was because I flew him out for the Eibach meet.

The other times he came down he did live in Nor. Cal. But it's still a hassle to get him to So. Cal. to work on the car.

We work together to find the time/money to get him here to do the little things that I'm not skilled at doing. (yet.)
