Headunit and Ipod/Zune options
Ideally I would like to keep the stock head unit in the car and was wondering if theres a way to get an ipod hooked up to it. I know they have the cassette tape things that hook up to an aux input and into the cassette player that might work, but will I lose sound quality if I do that?
The other option I was considering is a new headunit, but since the radio is wider on top, and rounded off on the edges, im skeptical that they make mounting kits that will keep it looking as nice and flush. Anybody have pics of their setup or advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Here are some pics of my Eclipse CD 3000 headunit installed using a Metra dash kit. I think it turned out pretty good and it is just as flush as the factory piece.

This is the best pics I have right now but if you would like more along with the part numbers you will need and install tips I wouldbe more than happy to help.
Also there may be a piece made by one of metra's other companies, called Axxess, that will help you retain the factory radio!

Looks good, but you can tell it is not OEM. If you have a Type-S, can't you buy the base RSX radio faceplate (since it is a single DIN) and work with that as a starting point?
FWIW, I tried a cassette adapter and you could hardly hear any sound through the OEM Bose radio. Not sure if I got a crappy adapter or not, but it was the best one I could find.

Hey man here is the part numbers and links to their instructions! You can purchase these from your local Circuit City because I know for a fact that they carry Metra and their part numbers will be the same!

Good luck with the install and don't forget the screws under the radio!

go with the radio transmitted adapters, like an itrip. i have one and it works perfectly. just plugs into the cigarette lighter and pick a fuzzy station. and the sound is perfect.
The iTrip is a good choice but nothing can match true digital connection! Also the expandability that he will gain from an aftermarket headunit is awesome (i.e. sat radio, ipod connection, bluetooth handsfree calling, etc., etc...). He will also improve his sound quality with an aftermarket deck.

Ya I considered a transmitter but Id rather have a true connection. Itll be a week during the next heat wave that I do this anyway so I can do it myself. Living in Buffalo, god knows when thatll be.
