Default Help me identify this part!

Hey guys, you are looking at the back of an LS block.. I am just wondering what the black box is with the hose tapped into the block. I was thinking it was for LS/Vtec but im not sure i bought the block like this.. So if it is something that is supposed to be on the LS block than tell me please. Thanks

Your picture doesn't work.

I assume your talking about the OEM "catch can" (not sure what the proper name is. It's used for crankcase ventilation.

Looks like the OEM crankcase ventilation box on the older B18B engines with the PCV valve mounted on top of the box.

Newer B18B engines had the PCV up on the valve cover, but I'm not sure if that box was on the back or not.

My OBD-1 B18C1 has the same box on the back w/ the PCV valve on top. Makes the PCV a PITA to get to w/ the huge@$$ dual-runner intake manifold.
