car wont gets locked
my friends car at certain times when in park and starting up wont move into drive. He has an automatic and the car wont budge from park, this just happend a few days ago, after a couple of tries eventually it lets go and allows him to drive but this is really annoying. The other day we were at a bank at the drive up and he had to park at the machine because he couldnt reach to hit the buttons, we were about to leave when we were done getting money but the damn car wouldnt go again and we were stuck there for 10 minutes with about 15 cars behind us honking. We found out that when you put a different acura key in the little key lock area on the automatic shifter, you can go into drive. But there has to be some way you can get rid of this or a different method to avoid this hassle. Let me know if anyone has had this or knows something, thanx.

w/ auto's theres a shift lock mechanism... when you press the brake you should hear a relay click to unlock it... if not. .it could be a dead relay or shift lock mechanism... also the input for this relay/shift lock mechanism is an input from the brake switch I think so maybe look into that too... not sure.. maybe others will have better ideas on this..
