LOL

How would gutting the cat fix the redline?

Did you have a CEL?

I was thinking that might be a issue.

A non-vtec ecu would have a low redline like that.

sounds like a tach being off and someone took your p28 and gave you a p05 p06 or p07

what are more of the syptoms does it bogg like it wants to go more but cant? Or does it just bouce of the rev limiter? MY hatch with a b16 was doing that I troubleshooted it. And it turned out to be the ELD(electronic load dector) was bad and its located inside the fuse box on the passenger side right by the battery but you have to replace the whole fuse box. Gl with fixing it

You mean limp mode?

If he was in limp mode he wouldn't be able to go near 6200

Your car can't be in limp mode because of your tranny mount, that doesn't even make sense.

The typical "limp mode" has a rev limit in the 3500rpm range.

He's 16, an 07, and 34 of his 38 watched topics are in A/C. Pretty much self explanatory.

The stock tachometers are know for being inaccurate at the high rpms...I don't know about 1000rpm off though.

i put in a d15b for my friend in his 95 ex and his hits @6200 as well with a stock p28. My guess is the fuse that dude was talking about above me or possibly wrong or bad ecu.

There is no such fuse that would mess with the redline.

Are you getting a Check Engine light? Fix that.

My '94 Civic with a GS-R (on a chipped P28) did the same thing...originally I thought it was an issue between the ECU and the distributor...the car ran great, then just randomly started redlining at 7K instead of 8K...

...in the end, it was a bad gauge cluster...you might wanna see if you could swap with a friend or something and give that a shot.

Well one thing to fix the issue stop taking that poor motor to red line who cares what red line is why even hit it theres no power up that high

sounds like either a bad ecu, which is doubltful. or your tack is way off. id check your spark plugs and wires also. possibly theyre arching at a higher rpm and causing it to seem like the rev limiter.

well im not randomly takin my motor to redline..i just got the car bout 2weeks ago and when i test drove it..it would only goto 6200 and he said it was the CAT. which makes sense in some way...it sounds like its missin alil at idle..like its poppin and its idling low..around 200-300 range..what about the fuel filter could it be clogged maybe??
