Alright, I've read the FAQs and searched, and nothing has come up about this which confuses me greatly. I figured someone would have had this problem already.
My niece has a '03 LX. She says she ran some errands, came home to get something, then went to head back out. She says the car had no electrical power when she tried to start the car. She called AAA, but they couldn't jump start the car.
So I show up with a new battery. Her current battery registers 12V, but it's the original, and the green charge light is not lit up. So I swap batteries, turn the key on and nothing, not even idiot lights or odometer. I start tracing power back. There are two wires in the fuse block, 1 to an 80A battery fuse and another to a 40A ignition fuse. the battery wire has 12V, the ignition wire doesn't. The ignition wire splits off to the starter and the alternator. I read 12V at the starter and nothing at the alternator.
My question: Is the wiring routed through the alternator so that the car wont start if the alternator/recifier is bad? The wiring is different than my '93 hatch so I'm a little confused. If anyone could provide info on the wiring or post a pdf of the wiring diagram, that would be a huge help. I need to know if its her alternator or the actual harness itself.
Thanks,
