I never knew b16's came with auto trannys? If they did they would bolt right up to your LS but you will probably run into issues with the ECU and shift points.

There is from what I understand definitely a B16 auto transmission. These particular B16's supposedly came with less aggressive camshaft profiles as compared to manual transmission models.

First, if you were to do this swap, you may need to take into consideration the fact that the B16 auto transmission is controlled by a B16 auto ecu, whereas your tranny is controlled by a B18 (LS) auto ecu, obviously. However, this is just an initial thought that I haven't got any additional information on, which is to say that I am not sure if you'll need a B16 auto ecu. I wouldn't think that the B16 auto tranny maintains different fluid pressures as compared to the LS auto tranny. I would greatly assume that both the B16 and LS auto tranny's are internally valved and controlled very similar. My most honest guess would be that you will be just fine with your current B18 (LS) auto ecu. However, it may very well make life easier if you got a B16 auto tranny from the same year range as your LS auto tranny. This will help reduce the chances of there being upgraded valving or upgrading features between your car's tranny and your new B16 tranny. This will help you steer clear of having to swap ecu's.

Realize that the point i'm trying to get across here is that it is important that you take these things into consideration regardless of whether or not they have an impact on the success of your swap.

Secondly, I am also assuming that Honda made life easy once again and you'll hopefully be able to bolt your LS auto tranny mounts onto the B16 auto tranny. Also take into account that you may need to modify your LS auto shift cable bracket or simply use or try to use the one that might come with the B16 auto tranny. Once again i'm not saying this will be a problem for you, but I am saying that this needs to be considered also.

Thirdly, I am assuming that Honda is still simple, and that torque converter fittment won't be an issue for you. What I mean by this is that if your B16 auto tranny doesn't come with a torque converter, will your LS torque converter fit? I would most definitely assume that it would fit since I couldn't imagine design engineers from Honda going out of there way to design a completely different converter snout and input shaft size just for one series of transmission. Just make sure the new tranny comes with a torque converter so you won't have to worry about this. The converter bolt pattern on your LS flywheel should match the B16 converter itself. Also, I would greatly assume that the torque converter depth or "flywheel to end of converter snout distance" for the B16 converter is the same as the LS torque converter so you won't have to put in shims to make up the increased distance between the converter and the flywheel, or in the worst case scenario, have machine the converter-to-flywheel flange to get enough clearance. Just take all of these things into consideration.

Good luck with your swap. I honestly don't think you'll have any issues, and don't let this post change your mind. Instead, let this post remind you of things that could go wrong with your swap.

P.S.- Sorry for the lengthy post.

I put a b16 auto tranny in an eg 4 door with an LS swap. The b16 revs the **** out of the motor in overdrive, but other than that it shifts fine. The one I used shifted really hard, but i don't know why that was......
