Default Went to the track tonight....something BAAAAD happened....

Welp, I made it out to Quaker City for the second time in my R to see what kind of times I can get...unfortunately, I wish I stayed home this time around. When we got there, it was hot as hell out, mid-high 80s w/ 85ish humidity. Best time I could put down under those conditions was a 14.91 @ 92.98. I knew that better times would come when it was going to cool down at night, so I waited. And when the time came, I got in my run....scored my best 60' (2.283), was going along nicely...until I went to shift from 3-4...missed it...tried to throw it in again, got it in gear...but it turned out to be 2ND GEAR!!!!!!!! My RPMs spiked at what appeared to be about 12,000. I immediately put in the clutch and let her coast down the track. My battery and check engine light came on...the car went dead on me. Luckily, I was able to start her back up and make it to the pits. At the moment, the car still runs. It's idling VERY low, 500 RPMish. The whole engine/car is shaking, you can feel/see it very obviously. Giving it steady gas at about 2-4k RPMs, you can hear a constant knock coming from the engine. Got the car back into town at dropped it off at the Acura dealership where my buddy that works there is going to look at it in the morning. He was at the track as well. His first guesses is that it could A) blown a spark plug out (causing the low idle, I'm highly doubting this one) B) knocked out a rocker arm C) bent a valve D) something worse, who knows. I'll find out what it is tomorrow. This has been one of the most disheartening experiences of my life. I'm already having withdrawls without having my baby and it's only been about 5 hours. I just want her back on the road ASAP. Thanks for listening everyone. If you have any comment or suggestions as to what it may be, please share.

BTW, here are the timeslips from my 14.91 pass and the pass where I f#cked up my car...

R/T: .838 .717
60': 2.303 2.283
330: 6.372 6.179
1/8: 9.687 9.426
MPH: 74.38 75.88
1000: 12.428 12.142
1/4: 14.913 15.071
MPH: 92.98 74.01

By my semi calculations, if I didn't mess up my car on the last run, I would've gotten about a 14.5!! A thing that I find fairly humerous is that my 1/8 traps were higher than my 1/4 traps, but it still doesn't make me feel better.

Again, thanks for listening everyone. Time for me to go for the rest of the night.........

what do you mean you dont see why it wouldnt???
warranties are meant to fix parts that failed due to a manufactring or normal operating defect. not for non-shifting, racer wannabee's

personally i hope they rail you on it. nice website by the way! bling bling ricer FX are tiite y0

Ok, I'm sorry for putting it that way. I should have said, "If they'll take care of it under warrenty, great. If not, I'll gladly pay the bill on my fuckup." Sorry again...

I bet in addition to bent valves - he has a spun bearing and f*&ked up crank journal.

Prepare to surrender thy wallet.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk - but you gotta pay to play.

If you race/drag/drive really fast - you should know that cars and car engines are not bomb-proof. Drag racing is EXTREMELY hard on the drivetrain and motor. Driver error simply adds to the equation.

As everybody has said.... BENT VALVES..... Just play stupid at the dealer and as long as you haven't touched you ECU (like moved the redline) you should be fine. Good luck, did it myself once and you will learn to be careful next time! Besides while they are in there they may replace your bearings and rering your pistons.... they did for me.

I did the same thing, bent about 8 valves when I did it. Also, broke my pressure plate at the same time. Is it shuddering and not going into gear easy? When I did this, I got oversized valves, 3 angle valve job, took 2 thousandths off the head, and a new pressure plate. With me doing all the work, it cost me about 600. So if all else fails, do as much of the labor yourself.
