Default ??Rear Fender Protector Removal??

Just wondering if anyone has removed the rear fender lip protectors?

If so what is the best way to go about this?

The only reason i ask is because it seems to me the last couple of civics that i have had the rust they get seems to start from that area of the car in the lip protector with water getting trapped in there.

For better reference i am refereing the #3 in the image

i'm sure its just held on with body push pins ...have you looked under at it? i've never really looked at that before every civic i owned or helped paint never had them...shouldn't be that hard

they're just slid on. Yank 'em right off. Especially if you live in a place that uses sand and salt on the roads. No hard done.

the fender lip guard is just pushed into place. the guard has a slit for the fender lip to slide in, and is snug enough to hold in place when done so. just pull it off, simple.

I took mine out with just a pull. And it is def a must to take out if you live in a snowy area because i also had salt and dirt stuck in my fenders when i washed my car.

Exactly why i want them off to prevent rust...

Can others confirm that this will help prevent rust? I have one of these liners already starting to come off, but it seems that they could help protect the paint from rocks and chipping which will also cause rust.

I guess I can't make up my mind which way is better...
