Default I was thinking about putting a turbo in my Lude

Hey I was thinking about putting a Drag gen 3 Turbo in my 2001 Lude. It's a sportsshift, but I've heard it's still possible. I was woundering why it it so bad to put force induction into a h22 engine? I need to know what I need beside new rod and pistons to run about 10 psi's? Can some one please help me

I installed a turbo in my 5th gen prelude. I worry about it exploding everyday. You are gonna get to resleeve your block if you get forged pistons. If you want to know more about that then search. There is a new thread about it just about every week.

Is your lude okay with the turbo? How much psi you put on it?

I'm running 6.5 psi but it's only been turbo'd for a few weeks. My FMU is a piece of garbage and gets stuck closed causing the rail pressure to always be high and the car runs super rich. I'm going to replace it next week.

I was thinking about getting a Venom Fuel management setup I heard they're really good. I also ordered pistons and I want to run about 10psi's but I don't know fo that is possible with out blowing out my motor. Why do they say it's so bad for force induction on h22's? What does it mean to sleeve the engine? Obiously I'm new at this and I want to do my Turbo Setup right the first time and not run into any problems.

first off, its called a prelude not a lude. Second of all, if you buy a drag gen 3 kit you will have everything needed to boost 7psi. To resleeve your block means to replace your stock sleeves with new ones, ones that can withstand higher pressures without failure. Golden eagle and Darton both make great Cast Ductile Iron sleeves. To have your stock ones replaced, you will need new sleeves and send your block off to have them installed then honed to the proper bore size of the piston. Block work will run roughly $800-1000. Before you start this process, i recommend you do some research and learn a little more about what you are getting yourself into, try out the forced induction forum on here, you can learn a LOT. A lot of guys post that the h22a's are bad for FI becuase the piston ringlands are weak and usually crack quite often, but if you get aftermarket pistons you should be fine, you might want to look into getting a lower compression like 9.0:1. If you do run 10psi, i recommend larger injectors, an intank fuel pump, possibly a hondata ecu or s-afc and then get it dyno tuned properly. I am not too familiar with the venom fuel management setup, but as i stated before i would look into purchasing a hondata, you'll get more bang for the buck with that set up. Im glad to hear you want to do things right the first time, just know that it isnt going to be cheap. Good luck

Jackson Racing Superchargers run 9 psi on 5th gens (stock block of course).

My God, how did I miss this,

To the newbie who had the gay comment: one more and you'll be looking for information elsewhere.

now, as for turboing:
the H22A is a good motor to turbo, but like mike said, anytime you boost something you might as well learn to live with keeping your fingers crossed. The ring landings on all Honda's are pretty much too weak for much boost. With the exception of Jinxproofs first mutant B18C1. He ran 20psi on a stock B18C1 with a t3/t4... *shrug*

When you drop in new pistons, if they're forged, you HAVE to get the block resleeved. SO unless you plan on doing this (which is around $1000) then you might want to cancel the piston order.
