I changed shiftknobs, and after a few different options, I left the boot off, and installed the trim ring only. I'm holding out until I get a BCSS and JDM boot. How bad does it look?

 

I don't like it at all but I've seen it before.

Thanks guys. I was just curious what anyone else thought. I'm not sure when I'll be able to order the SS and boot, so if it's that retarded looking, I'll toss the OEM boot back on.

Yeah, I'm with you. Everyone that has ever seen my car is like "that's weird" at first. Then I inform them of Honda's purpose and "that's weird!" becomes "that's a good idea". Only after the usual array of questions... (you guys know what I am talking about)


A lot of the tuner guys here (and I don't mean ricers) that I talk to always think it is bad a$$ once they find out I have an EP3 with that shifter.

To each their own I guess. It annoyed me to no end being up there. Everyone called it the 'bent nail'.

On a rally or track car having a shifter up there is a positive, but on a street car I don't think it serves a purpose. I also believe it hurt the sales of the EP3.

 

Honestly, I think it looks cool cuz its different. Id say keep it that way.

 

Jason do what ever you want bro, but just dont do it permanently...


As for the other comments about EP shifters, I was afraid I was going to hate it but I grew to love it. However an armrest would have been a wise choice. IMO

 

The shifter is great there.

Comfort is unnecessary.

 

as for the no boot ive seen worse.
i love my shifter being up there. not sure how it hurt sales considering honda still puts shifters up there on new cars(element, odyssey, crv)

 

You should weld a pipe on the end of it and act like your driving a big rig.

It is a great idea. It is much more functional than a lower mounted shifter. What is good for racing is good for a street car.
