Default Engine support for transmission removal

I'm about to do a flywheel/clutch install and one part of the process makes it appear the engine needs to be supportted from above. This does not excite me terribly as I have no tools to do that with any ease. Has anyone done this before just jacking the engine up from the bottom?

If I need to I can probably build a support to match the acura "special" tool, but I don't wanna spend $80 on angle iron that I'll have to scrap for $5 when I'm done.

TIA

You could just jack the engine from below if you have a nice, wide jack with padding on the "head" of the jack. You could also get a come-along for $20-30.

I just layed the engine/oil pan on a jackstand with a piece of wood between the jack and oil pan

Used a cherry picker on mine. The legs were in the way, but I knew it wasn't going to come down anytime soon.

Cool - ya, I've just supported it from below with all my other cars, but this was the first I'd seen where the manual says to do it from above.

Thanks!

That's what I do.
