Default Odyssey Transmission

I'm trying to buy a spare transmission so I can have something to run while I rebuild my current one. Does anyone here know if a '04 Odyssey transmission will fit an '02. Most the parts seem to share the same part numbers, but I was hoping someone knew for sure.

I would be willing to bet this post gets no replies tho :-p

Should be very close. I would check the trans model # on the trans to see if they are the same. I would make sure all the solenoids and lines are in the same spots. But I would be surprised if they were different. I do know they changed the ECU in 02 for better shifting.

Interesting. LMK what you find out. Wifes 03 JUST took a dump last night and we are in the process of trying to get Honda to cover it, even though we are at 87k. Since this is a WELL KNOWN issue with the 02 and 03, I cant see why they wouldnt, but who knows. I'm heading back up to the dealership in about 15 minutes...thinking good thoughts....

02-04 are the same trans. 99-01 are a different trans and are covered by a warranty extension by Honda.

02 and up are not under the warranty extension but if you complain to Honda they will atleast pay for the trans. and you will have to pay the labor.all it takes is a phone call to customer service and i guarentee they will help anyone with a transmission issue.

Hello All, I'm a new member who stumbled onto this thread from a motorcyle forum.

Fast4DR, you mentioned that the 03 Odysseys have a well known transmission issue? Can you describe it? I think our 03 suffers from it too.
thx much.

all odyssey's have issues up to 04. usually you'll get a check engine light with a trans code and harsh shifting or slipping.

jolt, i apologize for hijacking this thread

86si, thx for the info. we had that tranny thing taken care of with the recall, but within the last 2 years, the transmission feels like it's not up or down shifting quick enough.
