Im not familiar with the ecu specs and such. but the reason your vtec is not working is you vss (vehicle speed sensor) is bad which is also why your speedo doesnt work. Car must be above certain speed b'fore vtec works, with other requirements of course. Have you adjusted the idle screw?

Show me one thing that verifies you've ever looked in a service manual, its there. Vtec needs the correct minimums of RPM, vehicle speed, coolant temp, mani press. and oil press.

okay i can help you with this, ive had the same car

first to get rid of the secondary o2 sensor, get a chipped p28 and conert to obd1

cover your throttle body while the car is running, blocking off air, if the car continues to run you have a leak in your intake manifold at the tb or head

what kind of ecu are you running now? what kind of injectors? peak and hold? do you have a resistor box?

Thank you for the t/b help, but if he has peak holds and no resistor box the car may not be running at all, the problem is it idles high, and the vtec issue.

i will try that.. and i am running stock h22 injectors... and i have a p13.... so i will have to get a p28 for my car to run right?

the engine is basically 92-95 obd1 h22 and its mostly stock with headers and intake....

like i said idk much about what ecu is for what, but if the p13 is the h22's ecu, then it should be fine, if you want to use a p28 make sure its chipped.

Im not sure how obd2 plays into your equation considering your car is a 96.

I also had problems with idle when I first finished my swap. Have you cleaned your FITV? IACV? Have you completely bleed your coolant system?

i have not cleaned those but when the swap was pulled from the car it was running perfect... i just swapped it to my car and it started acting up on mine.... now it is running on a obd1 chipped p13 ecu

have the egr and iab's hooked up? i choose to run a custom ECU from phearable.net so i did not have to deal with wiring those up.

Was this as soon as you started it like for the first time? I noticed you said chipped p13, depending on what program was used in tuning, they are options for idle rpm in the program, probably a long shot though. Something else just hit me though, what about the tps (throttle position sensor)?

i did manipulate mine a lot. seemed to be trial and error, while the car was running, to get the correct setting. their is also a way to check the voltage of your idle. search and you should find it, i dont remember exactly how or what numbers you should get while testing.
