Default Tanabe Super Hyper Medallion Exhuast and ASR w/ 22mm ITR sway clearance issues

Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me out here...

I currently have a HKS Hi-Power exhuast on my 93 SI hatch. I have the ASR subframe with the ITR 22mm swaybar and PIC lca's. I have no issues with clearance but I want to get the tanabe super hyper medallion. Before I purchase this one and sell the HKS, I want to make sure I have enough clearance for the bushings and Swaybar so its not blocking the actual muffler. I had not thought about this till my friend purchased an Apexi Noir and he currently has issues putting his sway bar on the ASR subframe becuase the actualy muffler(canister) is too big. Here are some pics for reference! thanks in advance!

Here is a pic of mine with the HKS...

and here is a pic of my friends with the Noir.. to show you what clearance i'm talking about...

I wouldn't mind knowing either, since I have that exhaust and am planning to do this upgrade hopefully this spring.

my buddy has a can style exhaust on his EG (i think its a apexi N1) but it fit fine. he MIGHT have had to bend the hanger for the exhaust some to pull it away from the suspension but i am not 100% sure. just my .02

EDIT!!!
sorry read that completely wrong.... i know that setup will fit with the apexi WS2 cuz thats what i have. i think tanabe and apexi are almost identical.

K well I just talked to a rep at Tanabe USA in Cali, and he told me that basically that he has no idea.. I got transfered around, put on hold and still no one knew.. Then I asked for atleast the measurements of the exhuast, and they told me that the R&D dept have them in Japan, but he couldn't get a hold of them. Then I asked him about the Hyper Med in comparison in size to the WS2... he had no idea. He says they test fit and develop the exhaust with the car being completely stock. They don't take in consideration aftermarket suspension with the fitment of their exhaust... He said he doesn't see why it wouldn't fit considering that some 92-95 civics came with factory sway bars.. but he couldn't officially guarantee that.

the asr plate pushes the sway bar about an inch further away from the subframe and the itr sway is much thicker than a stock eg sway bar

I talked to my freind who had both exhaust and he said the canister on the tanabe is shorter then the apexi. Not sure how this will work with the ASR but hope that helped. Bump for a right answer because I'll have this problem too.

I love the sound and look of the noir but the fact that I can't put on my sway bar because of it, makes me hate the exhaust. I will be going to a muffler shop coming up soon and I'll find out what kind of options I have.

i'm surprised your friend was able to install the apexi noir. i had the same issues with the apexi ws2. could not install at all and had the exhaust extended.

if the tanabe doesn't fit can alway extend it for 20 bucks. just a thought.

i had a greddy sp2 with my asr brace and itr sway bar... the greddy sp2 muffler IS HUGE!!! you will be fine.... i dont know of a muffler bigger than the sp2 lol... i got rid of it because its so big... needless to say... if the muffler is that big you can bend a hanger or something to make it work... IT WILL WORK

But the whole idea is to buy an exhaust that you don't have to hack up. I have the same dilemma and ended up with a crooked exhaust. It pisses me off every time I look at the back of my car.

"just extend it then it will clear the sway bar."

So you have no problem with buying a $400+ exhaust and having to modify it. No thanks man. You spend the extra cash to have a cat-back that fits perfectly.

If we could find out if the Greddy sp (orig) was the same dimension canister as the SP2, I could go do some measurements as I have an sp on my old coupe in the garage and could compare dimensions with my super hyper medalion on my hatch. I wouldnt probably get a chance to do it until Monday though. I really want to know...

Yeah thats what my friend is gonna do, but the point is to just buy it and slap it on with no extra mod/cost

Exactly, I don't wanna have the guys expletive it up at the shop

Yeah, You pay the extra money for the Research and Development of the exhaust system the way it comes from the manufactor. You don't wanna modify an already perfectly engineered exhaust system... well atleast I don't

Thats not a bad Idea, don't worry about rushing, I love my HKS and don't mind waiting to have this question correctly answered or researched
