Default What to do, cutout question....

Currently my 97 GSR is running the LHT 300 kit, with a Garrett gt2871r turbo. The car has been tuned by John at LHT to run with an ITR exhaust and the car sounds great and runs PERFECT, I love the fact that it sounds like a GSR, but I know that I can get much more power with a 3" cutout. During my searches I found that people say to get it tuned with the cutout open but what if my car has already been tuned? can I just add the cutout and make some more power or should I plan on getting it retuned? I definately love my 34 mpg so I dont want to mess with that, and the cutout will only be used at the track not on the street.

what are your opinions HT?
Thanks

Yo need to retune it with the cutout open. You won't belive the power difference you will get by using the cutout. I felt an honest 50+whp between having mine go throught the stock exhaust and then having the 3" dp dump right after the oil pan. I am going to use a 4" cutout on my new setup. Cutouts FTW.

what cut out would you recommend because the ones we get here keep burning out the motors that move the flap.

Yeah I read a few posts where people said that they gained a ton of power with the cutout as well.
My setup made 247 whp with the ITR exhaust and 297 whp with LHT's 2.5 in exhaust just bolting it up, so I know there is power to be unleashed!!!

QTP seems to be the cutout of choice on here at least with the fewest problems of them all

I got a DMH, because the have a 4 year warranty, they are alittle more, but not that much. I had one go out, most likely from getting banged up under the car, but i just sent it in and they sent me a new one. I will deffinatley be getting a 4" dmh this time around. If you are looking for one I still have a brand new 3" one I would sell.
