Is this a good price for an '08 2dr EX?
I know y'all may see this type thread alot, but this is a first new car for me so i'm a bit eagar.
I was able to talk down my local honda dealer on '08 2dr EX auto, which appears to come, by mistake, with 18" HFP wheels (not an option on the website), to $18500.
car:
2008 Civic EX 2dr
automatic transmission
18" Honda Factory Performance wheels
some way too high performance tires mounted (didn't look, had a very unusual tread pattern.)
price: $18500 + TTL
The wheels are not listed on the invoice for the car, the salesman and I both agree there is some mistake and I would likely get the wheels for 'free.' The manager did not know about the wheels when I negotiated the price with him. (well, he could have, but didn't mention it.)
is this a good deal? possible I'm being taken for a ride? Little worried that the wheels would magically disappear after I signed the contract. With and without the wheels, how good of a deal is this?
I am deciding on this vs. a 2008 VW Rabbit. I am/was leaning towards the Rabbit.
Thanks.

They don't make "mistakes" on upgraded wheels and tires. lol $18.5K PLUS TTL then that brings you to about $20,350 OTD.
Now does that include the destination fee (assuming yes)? Are you financing? If so at what interest rate? What down payment?
They check your bank account, your job, how much you make (or how much mommy and daddy makes), credit etc etc etc. When you are serious and sign paperwork that's when the offers are solid. Oh and the finance office is where the ride comes in if you know how to handle it, you can walk out with a great deal.

I'm a little confused. Are you saying that I wouldn't get the wheels at the end of the day?
yes, I will be financing. Interest rate will be 4.9% for 5 years (60 payments)
yes price is with destination.
down payment... I don't think that has any bearing on weather it's a 'good deal' or not.
I am asking how good of a deal 18500+TTL with 4.9% financing is for the car.
Thansk for the help.

Oh yes it does, money is power at the dealership. I got an incredible deal on my brand new Si when I walked in cash in hand.
-------------------------------
So 0 down payment 60 months @ 4.9....
Your payments are $383.10/ month. Is it a good deal to you?
I'm not saying you won't get the wheels. All I'm saying is if they offer you a good deal you should take it, the only time they take you serious is if you're in the finance office signing papers. Otherwise they are just blowing smoke at you. You won't know the final outcome till after your through all the hoops with numbers all printed nicely on the contract.

I agree with 24boosted here. my payments are about the same as what was quoted here. $378m for 60m the dealers very seldom make ma stakes when it comes to money. personally I would shell out 2 more grand and get an si. the si is the best bang for the buck IMO! of course im bayous. good luck

Its not a bad price but for a few extra grand the Si is defenitly the way to go maybe you can still get an 07 assuming there are any left and def get a great deal on that
There are no 07's at the dealers I went to. Don't want an SI...
I thought 18500 was a good deal for the car... apparently it's not as good as I thought. thanks everyone.

If you weren't getting the wheels, I would say at most 19k out the door. I'm not sure how the wheels factor in (pricewise)

Edmunds lists the invoice as $18,590. to get 19k OTD, id have to get the car for like $17800. Just want to be clear... it's reasonable to expect $700 less then invoice?

Depends on the dealership, some have more buying power than others. Some move units quicker, some receive nothing but positive feedback from customers (when it's time to mail in that survey) etc etc... Some of these dealerships receive company kick downs and can pass on special offers etc. It's all about the numbers, money talks. If you have the funds then the ball is in your court. If not then it makes things tougher. This goes for Volkswagen as well.

I talked to the salesmen 2 days ago and he said the car was still available. If anyone was looking for a new EX with those wheels, it would be a great deal. Just PM me if you want the sales guy info, he will know about the car. I ended up buying a Rabbit. Car is a David McDavid Honda in Houston.
I'm disappointed in my fellow civic owners. This was a wholly unhelpful thread in response to the original question.
Sorry dude, but enjoy your new ride!!!
