Default compressor surge with greddy RS, im really getting annoyed here!!

isent the greddy RS supposed to be a good bov? apperantly not! i have it set all the way soft and no matter what the turbo surges, it surges at low boost (2-5psi) it surges on high boost (15-20psi) and im getting pissy here. i was gonna just open it up and take out the stiff spring, but then i was worried it might open when i hit my target boost of 15psi.

turbo is a GT3076R, i used to have a t3t04e and i had the same problem with the RS valve.

any opinions here? sorry for the rant.

the bov opens, but i still get surge.

I had the same problem with the greddy type RS bov. It wouldn't open no matter how soft the setting was so I took one of the spring out and it worked fawlessly eversince.

UPDATE

its official, the greddy RS is garbage in my book now.

i removed the stiff spring, not only did it still surge but it wouldent hold boost above 8psi either (yes i adjusted the **** to stiff and it still wouldnt hold boost).

so then i put the stiff spring only in there, same deal, it was either surging or it wouldent hold boost, i just got pissed off and put the dual springs back in there.

GREDDY bov SUCKS

tial here i come

The RS has a tiny valve...i could have told you that on higher boost with a reasonably large turbo that it is going to surge. The ONLY way to avoid surge with that small of a BOV is to put it as close to the turbo as possible....much like the intercooler mounted Tials that some people run

Dont bother with the RS...get a Tial and forget about it. Its the ONLY bov i'd recommend for people over 300whp

why would it be more? all they basically did was change the ports on it.. im pretty sure this new one will be taking the place of the old one.

I ended up with a generic rs and with the stiff spring out it works quite well, holds boost up to 15psi and no surge. In the future when I go to a bigger turbo I will throw a tial in there but until then the rs design is working for me.

Come on people. Don't you think you're going a little bit overboard with the Tial bandwagon? Yes, they make great products, but it's not the only working BOV on the planet. 40mm isn't big enough? I think my Blitz is only 35mm, and it works great. If you're getting compressor surge, it's probably because your vacuum isn't strong enough.
