Default auto X question

can you have your front windshield wipers removed during your run? and what kind of helmet would i need? [i just bought a full face helmet with a visor at a yard sale] i'm looking for some easy and specific answers, and one can only stare at a computer screen so long trying to find them. TIA everyone.

The helmet will need to be Snell certified, with either a M(motorcycle) or SA(special application) rating. It also must be 90 or newer, ie. 95, 00. You could probably run without the wipers but many areas will run in the rain and you should not do so without the wipers.

If you remove the wipers it technically bumps you into a very high level of modification (so leave them on if you can). Realistically I don't think anyone will care or notice unless you come in 1st place in your class (guessing STS by your signature)

That's what I need to shave off 0.00001 seconds take my wipers off

Seriously though what's the point? It's not going to make you any faster.

Remove the fuse for the wipers. I read in a book that racers slap the windshield wiper handle in the middle of runs.

This happens to most Nissans and maybe some others, but not in Hondas.

That hurt at first, but then I was like "Hey I own a Honda dammit!"

HAHAHA

I think the book was Secrets to Solo Racing and Autocross. It is a small red book. It is around here somewhere.

Remove the fuse for the wipers.
You know that's an illegal weight reduction and I will have to protest it if you beat me . I have seen a few people do this(pull the fuse, for both the wipers and the horn), and a lot more hit their wipers or horn.

Or MAYBE I'm just so smooth and collected that my hands aren't flailing all about... Didja think of that! Huh-huh-huh?

Andy - who has yet to see G.H. hit HIS windshield wipers...

well i just didn't want the wipers to be in the way if i accidentally hit during the course.

AH Tow EX - who does not believe that removing windshield wipers or anything else will shave seconds.

Seen Tim Aro hit them on multiple occasions. He's about the only person I've ridden with who has scared me yet left me in awe.
