Default My K24/K20 DA Build -- 56K grab some popcorn

About 14 months ago I picked up this DA from a guy I worked with for $700, not the greatest looking car on the planet, but it's always fun to start with something rough, a nice little challenge I guess.

I don't really know how KKK FTW ended up on that door, but it is there.

So that night I took off the ebay body kit, fenders, all the "ricer" kind of stuff that I really don't like. I'm not against body kits, I'm talking those big *** ones that look like the mouth of a shark.

Then I took it into the lower level of my buddies barn, and started to do some work to it here and there

The night that I actually took the engine out, I was a little under supplied with equipment, so the removal was well.. Haggard, at that.

I pretty much pulled it out with all sorts of **** dragging off the end. And then it sat.

So yeah its a 1991 Acura Integra RS, original color is red. I don't know the mileage, haven't really checked, lol. I've had the car 14 months, still haven't changed the title, should probably do that pretty quick. Whatever.

Now my friends dad was sort of **** about me working on my car when he wasn't there, because he restores old Studabaker cars and trucks, and had some really nice **** down there that he didn't want to get damaged. So I always had to sneak in thru this door that was meant for cows back in the day. He finally caught on when one day he went down there and noticed my car didn't have an engine in it, so he boarded up that door and I didn't really work on it again until later in the spring.

Eventually it ended up in my garage:

Next step was to start getting it ready for paint.. So all the windows and trim came off, along with the doors

I had never taken out a windshield before, and it was actually pretty easy with a putty knife and some 409 stuff, however I wouldn't recommend this if you are worried about breaking it. Mine already had a giant crack so I didn't really give a ****.

Pretty much everything in the interior was taken out except the carpet and the dash, however I think I'm going to pull that out anyways. I want to run some custom wiring for some other stuff later on.

So finally after a summer of nothing but work, and school in the fall, me and my buddy started doing the actual body work on the car yesterday.. (FINALLY)

We decided it's going to be best to go down to bare metal on it, due to the fact that the paint layers are as follows:

Primer, Red, Clear, Primer, White (the red bled thru and it turned pink), clear coat, black spray paint, and then green spray paint. Takes a while to cut that **** down with 80grit, lol.

Not to mention somebody thought it would be cool to fill in the doors and body with bondo where the moldings go, to make it look like they were never there.. I think I like how it looks but.. I need to sand over an inch thick of bondo out, and weld in new panels to make it look right.. Could be time consuming.

I'm not going to be running powersteering (obviously) so I'm gonna take out all the hard lines and such. I'm not going to convert over to the civic manual rack though, It takes too many turns to get to the full turning degree in my opinion. Plus my DD doesn't have PS so I'm used to it.

I'll throw some more updates up tomorrow night. We are gonna hopefully get the whole passengers side sanded down tomorrow.

I dont understand why people insist on sanding down to the bare metal...

but maybe its just lack of training...

in any case this has a lot of effort going into it... so anytime u work hard something the outcome will always be good..

post more pics when u got some

Well.. With a combined knowledge of 45 years between my two uncles who both own their own auto body shops...

Even though it is extra work going to bare metal, it will turn out better.

subscribed! good luck on the build i look forward to seeing this finshed.

IMO, i think you should put some side moldings back in it. stock ones are dirt cheap.

I'm going to do a k24/k20 frank motor. Was planning on doing a h2b swap then I found out inovative was making the k series mounts.

As for the guages.. When i First got the car an alarm system was hacked into the car, as long as this little box with a **** that is supposed to make different colors.. I'll take a picture.. I seriously don't know how the expletive it works. I have a bad feeling some of the wiring is ghetto rigged..
