i have an 89 honda civic hatchback that i daily drive and drag race occasionally. i would like to upgrade the suspension before i do any kind of motor work. i don't have any interest in auto x or road racing. so this would be more a DD and MILD drag setup. ride comfort is not a big deal to me, but i don't want it to feel like i am riding on a freakin horse. you know? lol. the suspension setup that is on the car ATM, which in reality is not a setup at all, is stock shocks and struts with cut springs. =\ previous owner. motor is a B16 if that makes a difference.
i have been looking at the Skunk2 sport shocks and lowering springs, but i am worried about dropping the car lower than it is now. these springs say the expected drop is about 2in. i figure that to be a good amount and will give me some good clearance between the header and pavement.
i've been browsing lately and came across Tien lowering springs with a drop of about 1.6in. i was thinking about mating these with the Skunk2 sport shocks. i've also heard really good things about KY/GC, but i don't believe i'd have to spend that much on a suspension setup to get the same result. another setup i was looking into is the Pro-S coilover setup by Skunk2.
so with all that said, which would be a good setup to choose? should i go for a lowering spring setup or coilover setup? i know with coilovers i can adjust ride height and with lowerings springs it's pretty much what i get. so i'm guessing a coilover setup would be my best bet huh? thanks in advance for any help.
