i know i can use 96-98 ex harness but can a obd2 GSR harness work as well????

 

I would imagine so, they both have vtec (gsr has knock sensoer also though, ex does not i believe). Also pay attention to the year of the gsr harness too. obd2a=96-98, obd2b=99-00.

 

just take a look at all the plugs and wires. if they are all there you're in business. if it's all you have... you just might need to switch a dizzy or an alternator... jyeah!

 

i dont think so because if its a gsr harness then it means its from an integra meaning its two pieces harness and eks use the long one piece harness

No, you cannot use the harness. Integras use the two piece design like the 92-95 Civic's. You would need a harness from a 96-98 EX if you are looking for the most "plug and play" option out there. Personally, if I were you, I would mod the stock DX harness to work with your swap and save the money.

Just use what ever harness you have that came out of your civic and rewire the harnes using some plugs from the gsr harness you have. Compare the plugs and switch over any plugs that are different from the gsr harness to yours, and extend any plugs that you need to. Then wire your own knock sensor, Vtec solenoid, Vtec pressure switch, IAB solenoid, with the plugs from the gsr harness and you'll be all set to go (if its a dx cx or lx harness).

Not QUITE that easy. If he uses the stock harness he will need to convert the IACV plug from 3 wire to 2 and also the crank position sensor. The DX/CX/LX uses a 3 wire crank position sensor where as the B series uses a two wire. Not too difficult. Katman has a decent write up on it on his site... Here you go:
