thatd be a bare LS block for 900$, what are your plans? You'd have to send in a LS block to get machined, not sure if thatd be cheaper then 900$ though
plans r to replace the block the best way i can, price and quality wise. so its more than $900.. what im really trying to find out is if i buy the ls block can i jst mount the vtec head and have it runing for now n bore it later ?

hey can u help me understand boring, honed and sleeving the block. i understand bore but when people say honed and sleeving i get lost...

To hone is basically taking a fine grit sand paper to the cylinder walls to clean the glazine that's been left behind from the engine running. Sleeving basically means to replace the cylinder walls itself.
Please note...the explanation above is only a figure of speech...DO NOT try doing either of those processes yourself. Unless you have experience with motors...DO NOT try decking, blocking, honing, boring, porting, or polishing on your own...and if you're building a motor for the first time...learn to REBUILD a motor before trying to BUILD a motor. Trust me...

Just get an ls block from a junkyard and get some replacement ITR pistons and you can use ls rods and the go on ebay and get the ls/v conversion kit. Then get ARP head bolts then a GSR head and a B16 or GSR tranny and you will be flying and all of that will be around $1000 and if you get the right dowel pins the you don't have to machine the head.

IMO:
I would say don't bore the block at all the hp gain will be minimal and the reliability will drop drastically, even if it is done correctly, If you run ITR piston the bolt right in on the LS rode and they will bump your comp to 10.2/1 and then with a vtec head you should be good.
You can build you whole block for the price of boring it out a minuscule amount. Plus the bigger you bore the less options you have for after market add ons. Also if you don't bore it leaves you with some of the thickest cylinder walls Honda made so turbo ls/v is a very real and pretty achievable opition and it's pretty cost effective in the long run looking at the $$$ to HP comparison.

so if the head doesnt fit in right with the right what am i looking for, so that it can b a proper fit...so standard ITR piston will fit in right and i should b fine for now ?hey man ur info realy simplified a lot of things for me those short anwser's are what i was looking for thanks a lot and happy new years.

You havent stated if or how your block is messed up. If its a cracked cylinder, then dont bother. If its just compression leaking through the rings then all you need is a bore/hone. All that shouldnt cost that much depending on what you want done at the machine shop.
Then you will have to go buy bigger pistons. At the machine shop, depending on how much they have to bore out, it will most likely be .20-.25 over. So you will need to wait on buying pistons until they are done machining it. So if its .25 over, I would say get some p30 pistons. They arent as high of compression at CTR/PCT pistons, but they are up there, and you can still safely run on pumped gass.
I would say if your only car has the ls engine in it, and you want to take it out and machine it, get a different block first. Dont take your only car out of commision. It will take a while to get all this done. So I would just go to a junk yard or whatnot and buy a LS block. Then take it to a machine shop and have them check it out and see what needs to be done to it. Once they are done, buy pistons, piston rings, bearings, arp gsr head studs, arp rod bolts, arp main bolts, shot peened rods. Then go buy a b16 head, the b16 head will be cheaper than a gsr head and its only a couple HP difference.
So pretty much you should have the engine completely assembled out side of your car, so when you take your engine out and can just put the new one in and your golden. Then you can sell your LS engine for some cash.

my bad. the type of engine that i have right now is an ls/vtec already with type r internals. the guy i bought it of said he redlined it and all of sudden blew and now the engine starts but smoke comes out. ya it sounds like a compression leak through the ring not sure yet. soem friends that did similar swapts said the block is dead, and its best to jst buy a used one with lo miles. im doing research on how much im looking to spend for now since my cousin is on vacation n hes my mechanic n then from their will see what happens thanks for ur helps fellas
