ticking\tapping noise

here is the problem after letting it warm up and taking it out the engine sounds completely fine. no ticks nothing, but if i get on it and bring it through 2 or 3rd or whatever(doesnt matter which gear). when i come to a stop and the idle comes below 1000rpms there is a loud tapping noise(its louder than the usual tick and more pronounced).
oil is completely full. it doesnt matter if its hot or cold out. could the oil pump be getting weak and a lack of oil pressure cause this? im really lost.
i do have a leaking oil pan, would a oil leak cause a loss of pressure???
any help will be appreciated. thanks

Heh...
Tapping is usually a bad sign. Can you pinpoint where the tapping is coming from? Does it speed up and slow down with engine RPM?
Define leaking oil pan... does your just have a wet edge or is it actually dripping?

it goes away if i barely rev the engine up. and the car pulls hard as hell still. still has240-245 compression across the cylinders.
um over night probably a lil over a half dollar size puddle.

Well, if it really bothers you or you think something is mechanically wrong, you can always check the source and see..
If it's coming from the head, you can always do a valve adjustment. Could have a valve that's backed off a little.

well i have done numerous valve lash adjustments and still the same thing. im coming up with the oil pressure being a lil low from a worn out oil pump cause a little bit of noise. but i could def be wrong i dunno.
i need some of you diagnosing freaks in here.

T-belt slapping?
These kinds of things are hard for me to diagnose over the internet. I'd have to hear it and be able to pinpoint it. Other guys are better at it... so I guess I'm just free bumping you..

I recently had the same prob, however. It came from the alternator. I loosen it and start it without the alternator, and it was gone. Not saying that's it, but there's possibility it might be that. Good luck.
that reminds me that i need to change my alt belt. it squeeks every now and then.
