ok starting my wifes car about 30 mins ago i get the familiar sound of a bad solenoid ... turn the key click click click click .... (it does start when i roll and pop the clutch)

right?

Dead battery most likely. The battery may show the correct voltage with a multimeter, but what you need is to check the condition of the battery cells. If you can easily jump start the car without it doing the clicking, it means it's the battery, not the starter. An easy way to tell if it's the starter solenoid going bad is the whack the starter with a hammer. If the problem goes away, then the starter is at fault. Starters do go bad, but not nearly as often as a bad battery. Hope this helps.

i charged the battery but i did use it to try and start my hatch for about an hour lol so hopefully it will recharge when i go pick her up at work. if it is the battery i wondered how the starter would just take a sh*t like that .. and i knew i ran the battery down buy jumping my hatch with no luck... effing thing never has a problem then BLAMO wont start

i kno i kno i wasn't thinking everything threw today... now that we are a single car family and i work 45miles away whoopie

 

If you ran the battery completely dead I can see how it would not perform as well the next time. Usually completely discharging a battery and then jump starting it to recharge it is very hard on the battery and can reduce it's total charging capacity by up to 50%. Usually a starter or battery won't just suddenly take a **** unless you really really did something wrong. Last time I had a starter go bad it took about a week of starting for it to finally quit working. A battery is kind of the same way. Slowly but surely it's charging capacity will drop to the point that it just won't start the car or power all the accessories anymore.

 

hmm another question now that i killed the battery the stock radio cd changer needs the code and she never wrote it down. are codes radio specific? or is there one general code?

 

They are VIN specific IIRC. I'm sure you could call a Honda dealership and ask them for the code for the radio.

orrrrr you can pull out the ashtray the code is usually on the back of that as well.
