Default Tick/Knock Sound

Alright guys, every time i have to drive my car when its cold outside i normally warm it up, but sometimes i cant. and when i drive it when its cold, i notice a ticking/knocking sounds very faintly you really cant notice it unless your looking for it, and when the car warms up it runs fine, i cant think if anything.....and suggestions on what it might be?

well ticks and knocks are diffrnet. knocks usaly mean the bottom end and a tick will mean the top. sometimes if there are big clearinces you could have piston slap but when it worms up and the pistons expand it will stop.

also you can justify top from bottom by listing to how quick it is in the top half the cam('s) only move half the speed of the crank witch would be half your idle. the knock would happen every for every rotaion.

If its a tick and from the head, then its probably valve tick, adjust the lash adjusters. Mine ticks on a cold start up, i just havnt got around to adjusting it next

Its probably safe to have no sounds ,lol. But i wouldnt stress out about it, just get to it sometime soon when you get the time.

well i wanna upgrade the cam in it and a shop said theyll do it for 150 with a valve adjustment....will that do it?

^ true, save the money, get a helms/haynes manual. Not sure if its has the valve lash specs, but you can find them, it'll show you how to adjust them.
