94 Accord Suddenly Dies?
I have a 94 Accord 4 Cyl with external coil. Ill start the car, drive off, and all of a sudden it will die off. For example, I was at home, got in the car, turned it on, everything fine, so I drive about 5 blocks and get on the freeway. As Im starting to merge into the freeway goind about 55 MPH, the car all of a sudden dies and I slowly merge back onto the shoulder. I try cranking and it will crank and crank and crank and then all of a sudden it will turn back on. Then I drive off and its fine. Yesterday, I was at the movies. When we got out, I started the car. Drove less than a block. All of a sudden, again it just dies. Tried to start it and it cranks, cranks, cranks, and all of a sudden it starts up again. Drove home no problem. Anyone know what it could be? Or has anyone had similar problems and found out what it was? The car runs strong. It has 224XXX miles on it and I recently did a tune up.
when the car dies does it have lights on the cluster? batt/oil ?
If not the ignition switch might have burnt contacts.
Might be worth the time to drop off the lower steering column shroud and look at the solder joints on the back of the Ignition switch.
If you see one that looks frosty instead of shiny replace the switch.
A word of warning; if you have the flat ribbon cable for the SRS be very careful not to disturb it. the connections are crap.

I've experienced this exact problem in a 92 Accord. After many failed attempts at fixing the problem, it turned out to be a faulty igniter inside the distributor. Here's the part from your car....
I just got through the same problem. It's been about 500 miles now without killing after I changed the ignition control module and it hasn't killed once. By the time I changed it it was killing several times in a mile and was getting harder and harder to restart. It sounds like you've got the same problem. Here is my thread and the replies I got. They should all hold true to you.

My 94 accord had the same problem, turns out the main relay switch is prone to failure. Mine would not activate the fuel pump, so some times no start, and a few times it died while i was driving. A simple fix! less than 50 bucks from your dealer e- mail back when you get it figured out
