what are the differences between Brembo and Autozone rotors
what are the diffrences between Brembo Blanks and Autozone Rotors? <-- noob question. Are the Brembo Blanks bigger than autozones? i can get the brembo blanks for 70 bucks a pair and i think the autozones should be 17 each rotor.
which do you guys recommend for a daily driver? is it worth paying the extra 30 bucks for the brembo?
its for a 97 gsr

autozone rotors, huh... i would have to say anything that my life is in the hands of, i would want the better quality, and reliability, reguardless of how much it costs me.
Make this thread in the RR/AX forum if you want more replies.
A lot of the people in there use Autozone blanks, because to many, the rotors are a wear item that need to be replaced frequently.

Functionally, you really won't notice a difference between the two. I'd go with Duralast / AutoZone. They're less expensive and even have a replacement warranty.
As long as it's a decent grade of iron, shop for price. I know the Joe's stores had been selling some pretty low quality rotors that didn't last long. Like the above posts have said, rotors wear out. I think you can get a set of 4 Brembo blanks on ebay for 129ish

It was weird cause when I use to work for autozone, every now and then I would receive some Brembo rotors with my shipment mixed in with the autozone brand "Duralast" brake rotors. I use their $15 rotors on my gsr's and for daily driving i can't tell the difference from oem and autozone brand.

Yes, though I think they've raised the pricing slightly.

The Valucrafts are cheaper, but only have a 1 year warranty vs. the Duralasts 2 year warranty. Either should be fine, though the ones that most folks typically go with are the Duralasts. I've also read that some stores only stock the Duralasts and need to special-order the Valucrafts.
Search for autozone rotors especially in the roadrace/auto-x forum. But here are two links
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=181691 - The OP edited his post and removed his info but there are still good comments.

I did come across another thread in the roadrace and auto-x thread but don't have the link but it did show that different rotors have different weights. I believe OEM was the heaviest then brembo then autozone.
Honestly, Ive been using autozone rotors for 3 years now on and off the track with no problems.

I would always get them w/ a discount so they were around $15 a piece a few years ago, maybe around $20 or more now. But yeah the Duralast seemed heavier than the valucraft. I always buy the Duralast which are a little more than the valuecraft brand.

Wouldn't someone want to have a heavy rotor? I mean yeah it is unsprung weight but the difference should be minimal in that department. What I am saying is it would be harder for the heavy rotor to get up to temperature for the pads, but once it gets there it will have an easier time staying there (if they are all the same material). Of course everything is up to a point. Probably wouldn't make a difference either way though.

A few have made that arguement in the RR/Auto-X section, from when I did some searching a while ago.

i guess autozone raised their prices up to 29 each rotor with a 2 year warranty. I might just go for brembos (a name you can trust) for 70 for 2 front rotors from https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1411597. thanks for everyones help
i hope the PBR pads are good.

First off, you obviously don't realize that many people trust Autozone rotors, not only on the street but on track as well.
Secondly, its not just a $10 differene. Because the autozone's come with a warranty. So when your rotors get chewed up from street/track use you can just take them back and get a replacement set for free.
So two sets of autozone rotos for $60 > 1 pair of brembo rotors for $70.

autozone rotors come with a 2 year replacement warranty.
Brembo blanks are made with a slightly better process and materials.
