Default Vtec Question.

I know that if i have a CEL it will cause my vtec to not kick in but will it cause a Vtev CEL to pop up. The three CEL that pop up are the O2 sensor, auto trans- because my car is a manual, and the Vtec solenoid. My qustion is that would the O2 light or the auto tranny light make the Vtec light to come up or does it mean that the someting is wrong with the solenoid. The motor is a D16z6.

thanks for the help ***. i was just seeing if any cel would cause a vtec light to come on since any cel causes the vtec to not engage.

i am seeing this one as (in order) : ecu, o2 sensor, vtec solenoid. since it's the wrong ecu, it would automatically mis-adjust AFR (so you then get the 2nd error above). the solenoid, that i'm not sure. you could try solving the first problem. the 3rd problem might (big chance) just be a "misc" code because of the 1st prob (ecu)

Uh oh he's got a point, did you leave auto ecu in? Get it converted, theres write up's, its easy, or get a manual ecu.

let's see if i got this right (damn trial, i only got 7 posts for today ) . . .umm, did you say "because i have a manual" you mean you have a manual ecu and matic tranny or manual tranny and matic ecu? either way, even if you change your o2 sensor infinitely, it would still throw the code (before you start the car, the "check engine" light comes on to check if there is an electrical error then goes out if none). since ecu "saw" that there is a mismatch in manual/auto, there goes the codes. and since that's an EK ecu, there's no way to test it than borrow someone's ecu. if only the D16's are OBD1's, this coud've been easier

The Motor is a manual but im runnin an auto P28 computer. The D16 came out of a 92-95 civic Ex so it is an OBD1

Converted my ecu to manual but couldnt replace the o2 sensor because i ended up stripping it. I will just ride it out until i upgrade my exhaust in early spring.
