jack stands??
I've got 2 pairs of 4 ton jack stands. Any brand will do, really. I prefer the type that has a ratchet-style lock, so it's easy to remove from under the car, once you have it on the floor jack.

Go back to sears, get the el-cheapo craftsman jack stands. They're maybe 15 bucks for a pair. Get the ones that start short, because getting the big ones under the car is a pain in the ***.

True, but it does help to have a nice floor jack, which it sounds like he does.

Yes.... but if the car is real low, and you jack the front end and have real tall jack stands (like the ones for trucks and vans), you can end up with your exhaust tip on the ground before you clear the first click on the jack stand.

I haven't had that problem yet. Of course, when I jack the car up from the side of the car (at the front jack point), it usually lifts the whole side of the car (not just the front).

I'm not a huge fan of the pin style, as it's relatively more annoying when it comes to lowering the car. But, they'll work just the same.
