Default head gasket?

well i tried looking it up but i couldnt come up with anything. i launched my car at about 3k and it was wet out so no traction and all i was doing was wheel hopping. snapped one of the bolts from the dp to the cat and then my car started to overheat. i drove around without the bolt and it would only over heat every now and then. i bought new spring bolts but didnt grab a new gasket so there is still a leak, but now the overheating problem seems to of went away. not that im complaining but i dont want to be driving my car if its running poorly. symptoms that were happening were/are: overheating when driving normally but would go down if i cranked the heat then it wouldnt overheat for a while, i refilled the reserviour for the coolant and it just disapears after a couple days, my heater takes like 15 mins to start blowing hot air even when the car is fully warmed, im assuming its my thermostat and hopefully not my h.g. im going to do a compression and a leak down test this week and flush out my cooling system and see how that does me. the car is a 1994 honda civic ex, d16z6 with stock block, arp studs and the head has been milled and a 3 angle valve job, greddy 15g turbo kit and has about 150k on it. any clue?
