Default 03 civic lx sport cd problem

Hi, my parents have an 03 civic and the cd player spits out all cd's as soon as you put them in. I have searched and found one other thread but there was no help provided in it. Any idea's? Time for a new one?

You can try a "reboot", disconnect batt. neg.(-) wait a few min. and reconnect, see if unit works.

Have you tried running a good quality lens cleaner through it? 94

If it won't take a CD, then the load/eject transport mechanism is shot.

You can send it out for repair, or you can check eBay for an OEM replacement.

That's why I said a "good quality" lens cleaner, cheap lens cleaners are nothing more then a disc with a brush on it, the one I have will load as long as the CD transport is working, information on the disc "tricks" the transport into holding the disk in no matter how dirty or misaligned the lens is, and it's JDM.

Sometimes I have to load it a few times before it stays in, and when it does you get a short test tune, [15sec.] followed by the voice of a Japanese woman with a heavily accented but oh so soft voice "thank you for using our laser lens cleaner, cleaning now starts, please press selection button number five when you hear the beep" 15 seconds of silence and then another 15 seconds of test music, and if everything is good, her voice again, cleaning is now complete.
If you do not hear the test music and her telling you cleaning is complete, you would still have problems with CD's.

If there is something wrong with the processor or the lens is damaged or misaligned or the laser has a problem, the HU will have to be pulled and sent for repair, it's an 03 so it's unlikely it is still under any kind of warranty.
A simple cleaning and lens alignment will cost at lest $100, any oem HUs we have sent in for repair, [any make] has come back with a bill for no less the $250, and most for a lot more, you can get a pretty good brand new aftermarket HU with a kit and harness from an authorized dealer for $250.

Or as mentioned pick up a used one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW and take your chances 94

BTW did you try the "reboot", that has work for me many many times.
