OK, just bought a CRX HF everthing is stock and was wondering what the best trans to use if I want to swap in a ZC engine from Japan? The HF in the car has TALL 1st and 2nd gears but is great on the highway which I do drive on from time to time. I'm interested in overall performance not just excelleration. "Overall" translates into gas milage, excelleration, and city driving styles, and of course 0-60 times!! Thanks all.

 

Back again, I found a ZC one for 200 and a Si or DX one for 250...

 

250 for a si or dx.......damn that is expensive. i would just go with the zc one then, for 200 bucks i say go for it. just hope that the syncros are not all dead!!!

 

Get a ZC, fewer miles than you average Si trans. No torque steer.

i used to have all three trannies hf, zc, snd si. my favorite over all is the si for acceleration and gas mileage.

 

Get the ZC trans and toss in the Si final drive. Works great for me, gearing is nice and short.

 

I like the Si better than the ZC. You get quicker acceleration. The ZC with Si final drive is the best, but you have to buy both trannies to get it.

Virginia, I wonder if you had a bad trans? My ZC it turbo'd and I really don't notice much torque steer through the Si trans. Maybe I'm just used to it? I'm don't doubt it since one axel is about twice the length of the other, I've just never really noticed it.
