The car is a 1992 Accord Lx. For Christmas my brother got a new battery for his car because the old one was bad. Well today we put it in and the car wont turn over or anything it has no electrical power what so ever. The lights dont turn on nothing. We tried jumping it thinking the battery had no charge still nothing. Anybody have any ideas? I searched and think it may be the main realay but it wont turn over or anything so Im a little confused.

 

Check the ground?

make sure its getting a good connection.. try the battery out of your car to see if its the battery.. check the battery fuse

 

Ditto on the battery fuse.

 

the battery must be bad or you have a bad connection. check all the under hood fuses but it should be that main black fuse coming in. is your positive cable terminated correctly going in to the fuse box?

 

Where is the battery fuse? Anybody have any pics. Also the battery is good tested it on my prelude and it fired right up.

 

battery fuse is in the underhood fuse box. its a big *** fuse, i think its like 80 amps... hard to miss. its got a clear plate over it with two bronze things coming off each side, thats how its mounted. it should be in the middlish i think.

has anyone started with the basics first? like checking the "new" battery for juice? or how about using a D.V.O.M.(digital volt ohms meter) to check for at least a 12.4 volt charge? cause even new parts go bad. and even if it does have a 12.4 volt charge id put it in and check the charge through the cables and see what voltage you(thus ruling out and fuses being bad) then id start the car with the meter in place to see where the voltage went (like if it drops to .02 volts when you hit the key) so id definitely check the basics first before heading into bigger diagnostics

hmm read much? not to say that means the battery is 100%, but its not the battery, not to mention even a dead battery will turn on the cluster lights for a second or two.

 

The battery Fuse is what was wrong with it! Im going to autozone tonight to get one. Thanks for ya'lls help!!!
