There is no such thing as a stock b20 vtec.
If you really are planning to just put a b16 head on a b20, you are better off with an ITR.
Cobbling a motor together = boom.

no i was on about a b20z with a b16a2 head arp bolts goldeagelkit and using crome but both engines were stock ,if you get me.im new to honda tech but not hondas
How is one to know when you type that way and leave it so open ended?
If you know how to build a motor and do it right, then why not use the b20 vtec? You could put one together cheaper then a ITR swap.
The ITR swap has a ton of upsides one of them being the tranny.
There is no such thing as a stock b20 vtec anyway, so that term just doesn't work. What do you mean a mild build using b20z pistons rods and a stock head?

Your question is open ended. If you have some build specifics then people can advise you. Also, there is a b20vtec thread showing various hp levels and build states.

In a track/roadrace motor, you want reliability above all else, unless you're competitively racing (which you won't be, if you're just starting). How about a COMPLETELY stock B20Z? No B16 head, nothing fancy. I've been using a B20B with cams for the past few years on track with great success. The only thing a faster motor will do is empty your wallet more and get you down the straights faster. I'll spare everyone my normal diatribe on why a slower car is better to learn with on track.
P.S. Everyone is getting confused because you're saying "STOCK B20VTEC" which as stated, doesn't exist. What you mean is "stock BOTTOM-END B20VTEC." Be more specific next time.

i have it in the car and running real good for about 8mnt's now ,i was always into 1/4 racing then i did a day at the track and was hooked ,so now my plan has changed but i dont think the b20vtec!! will be upto the track like a b18c will.

Ok, so... why'd you even ask us if you were going to do the B20VTEC anyway? And what makes you suddenly realize the B18C will be better for track use?
if what you have is put together well then i'd say toss some mild cams in it, some standard bolt ons, have it tuned and forget about anything else.
the Z bottom end is a much better start and if you switched to a stock gsr you will most likely be disappointed. what tranny do you have?

well yeah but im just shittin my self about the sleeves , and what pp say , i just dont wat them to go boom as that would be the end of me for the year untill i could get a re build
i actually brought up the sleeves in that post then deleted it.
with stock bore and stock compression your sleeves should be fine.
just work with what you have and keep it simple. over thinking this stuff just eats money.
