TSX vs IS250
sat in both, and I must say, it's claustrophobic in the backseat of the IS250. Didn't get a chance to sit in the TSX this year, but I remember it being extremely roomy, more so than the TL. Plus, after driving my mom's CR-V, and knowing how a k24 sounds, I'd take the tsx. Only thing the IS has over the tsx IMO is rear wheel drive, the extra 30-40 lb ft. of torque, and those sexy lines [in pearl white]
good thread it answered all my TSX interior room questions(I'm 6'5").The nearest acura dealer is a couple hours away and I've only seen a few TSX in passing the net etc so I'm glad to know its roomy before making the trip to possibly buy one.

exactly what I was thinking... why does every one worry about the back seat and ur passengers...did your "friends" and family consider you when buying their car to make sure you are comfortable when you sit in the car.... I highly doubt it....buy the car you like to drive..remember your going to be in the driver’s seat most the time..
btw: the 2008 IS is adding more back seat room.

obviously you're on a honda forum so everyone here's going to say TSX.
I suggest you testdrive both!
I would take the Lexus over the acura just because the IS250 comes in RWD and AWD which is much better than the TSX right off the bat!
Plus, the IS250 is a V6 rather than TSX's 4 banger which is again a plus for the lexus.
Finally another plus point for the the IS250 (185) is it has more torque than the TSX (164)
which will you'll love when you have to overtake other cars....
I'm a honda lover but I have to say that the IS250>TSX

FUNNY
Ask the same question on a Lexus forum and see what they say!!!
Since we own a TSX I'd say the IS is the one I would like to own.
Here are my reasons:
I like a driver oriented car, meaning I like to have a little more direct response when I drive the car, throttle, steering handling, breaking, quality (fit and finish). And a tight interior feel,
The TSX has all of this but somewhat a watered down version compared to the IS. Now the IS I believe cost a little more so the phrase (bang for the buck) hold's true with the TSX.
Front wheel drive isn't every exciting infact it's boring, the drive by wire throttle takes away any chance of the slight bit of excitment but then again that's not what this car was made for.
Depends on what you want from your car.
If it's to haul your family around child seat / kids the TSX might fit your needs better from the space stand point, but I have to admit the car is absolutly the WORST car (Honda/Acura) that I've ever owned for gas mileage. (I've owned 5 other H/A car's - (92 Integra, 00 Prelude, 92 Accord, 00 Accord, 02 TL, 05 TSX)
So If you want to have a "family" car but spend most of your time driving to work and back by yourself then get the IS, it's a sportier drive, and more fun to play with, makes the extra car payments worth every penny. The Lexus platform allows for better HP gains for slight mod's but then again you pay through the nose for parts.
I like the styling of the new IS, and the interior feel is great for someone who wants to forget they just bought a 4 door "family" car.
But since your on this board your more than likely going to get a TSX and it'll be a good choice until the 2nd month of ownership and you want something with a little more punch.
This is just my 2 cents, now the TSX is sharp looking car but I wouldn't buy another again. Nothing wrong with our car, but it lacks in punch in AT, SS mode is fun but AT sucks. And the fuel mileage for such a boring ride is like punishment that never ends....
Interior space is enough for my family and car seat in the back, over all it comes with almost all the toy's a car in this price range should have HID, Climate Control, Leather seats, bla bla bla.....
Drive both and see what fits your needs best

you would figure backseat space would be some what important since he wants a 4dr car, but that's a decision for him to decide on.

My sis has a TSX and we also share an IS250 AWD as a daily driver. Both loaded except for navigations. The Lexus wins on the cost (or should I say the deals/incentives), technology gadgets, engine, drivetrain layout, looks, and its newer. The TSX looks outdated, until the new one comes out. Both good but, the TSX does win in maintenance cost and easier to mod.
