this tall guy needs some help
hopefully some of you other taller enthusiats can help me out
im 6'3" and drive a integra. day to day i feel very comfortable in my car, no complaints.
but autox is a different story, my helmet adds at least 2in to my height so my head hits the roof. this forces me to have to lean the seat farther back which doesnt put me in the best driving position.
i was hoping to get some suggestions on how to fix this problem.
before some gets smart, im not cutting the roof off
im sure a better helmet might help considering im just using a cheap motorcycle helmet. but maybe that wont be enough
thanks in advance

Yeah, unfortunately, your only real fix is going to be a way of dropping the seat somehow. You can:
-cut the bottom seat padding down a bunch...eh
-mount the stock seats to lower rails; I don't personally know a lot about this, but I know it's been done
-get some aftermarket buckets with low/custom rails; this is my personal vote. The difference and aftermarket seat will make to the driving experience is phenomenal.
Depending on how serious you are about autoxing, you should look at the rules for your class first. If you don't care, then have at it. Just so you know, there are no helmets that will give you better clearance.

I'm 6'4" and race an EF Hatch with the following mods for optimum driver position:
• Custom fabricated seat mount brackets (rear factory brackets removed)
• Low profile, aftermarket sliders
• Cobra racing bucket seat (with a pretty steep recline)
• Bottom seat cushion removed
• Steering column lowered 1" and extended about 8"

I'm 6.7 and drive an integra as well. I took about 2 inches of foam out of my stock seat and gained about an inch of head roam, the only problem was my seat started to rip. I would say go for a bucket with some low sliders

The stock seat rails are pretty good. They're about as low profile is you're gonna get without tearing out the mounting points or finding some side-mount sliders.
I think its safe to say, you're probably not going to find a bolt-on solution to your problems. Fabrication is the answer...
PS: Do you have a sunroof? If so, that headliner and mechanism is about as thick as the extra room you're looking for. Replacing the roof, or plugging the hole and replacing the headliner might be another option.

this might not help for your class
but i removed my sunroof in my em1. having the rails out gave me 2 extra inches of headroom.
i used the CF sunroof plug from lighter-faster

Id have to agree with Thawley, Stinky and HG
Fabrication or changing the seat will give you the best options and seating position.
memory fab, buddy club both sell low seat rails and sliders.
I found i had to go up one more notch so i bough a set of these along with the memory fab set up.

QFT, i've been looking for a solution to my EP3+DC2 combo (super high). and i just recently ordered a set of Memoryfab sliders as a starting point for some fabrication. Fabbing something up is really the only way to gain a significant amount of clearance with stock seats. GL

if you fit in one, bucket is the way to go. i have a bride low max bucket with the low rails and i look like a freaking little kid in it. Granted im only about 5'8" i could not see too well in autox's with small cones. lol

I modded my stock seat rails for my Sparco Speed... I bet it would be perfect for what you have going on. If you like I can take a pic of my girl in it.... she is about 6 ft.
I can also show you the brackets I made to make it sit lower that my freinds with a sparco bracket

Please do. That would be very helpful.

i'm 6'4.
in my 92 civic 4 door i used to not have much room.
put in some 97 del sol seats. now i feel like i'm kicking back on a lazyboy, there is so much room.
even with my autocross helmet on, i'd say i have a good 2" of clearance.
and i used the del sol brackets. you can bend them slightly , drill a hole in one of the front mounts, and they will line up just fine in DC integra/EG civic.

Del sol seats as Hybridmoments says will give you 2-3" perhaps, also use the floor mount/slider from the 92-95 civic COUPE are extremely low, since the roofline of that car is lower than the other models. I think the bolt pattern on the floor is the same in the DC vs EG.
For race buckets, ive found MOMO seats to sit extra low, the butt spot is lower than the rest of the bottom of the seat, so the sliders kinda recess into the seat.
The bottom of the seat where its dished for your butt is as low as the bottom of the sliders where they would mount to a floor mount.

Nice to know i'm not the only tall one out there.... 6'7" piloting an EF sedan.
IIRC I believe wedge engineering makes some low profile seats that should work.
